August

The second half of August has been busy but fun. The kids are settling into their routines and I am as well. We've got lots of big changes in the next few months but we're ready for them.

Rowan:

RowanHomework
Rowan is off to a great start in high school. He has quite a bit of homework (lots in Honors English which isn't a surprise) and has expressed that it feels a bit stressful now that his grades really matter. The high schoolers went on a retreat to the Circle F Dude Ranch and he had a wonderful time. The retreat was all high school and they split the kids into groups with kids from each grade so it was a wonderful time to meet new people and build community.

RowanBirthdayBat
Rowan has been going to the weight room every day after school and working hard at working out. He also finally received his custom birthday bat in the mail and has been able to use it at the weekly off season baseball workouts.

RowanPeriFollowUp
Rowan got cleared by the periodontist and we're thankful that his gum grafting experience went off without a hitch. He even got to have a special lunch with mom AND dad after that appointment.

Cruz:

FlagFootball#3
Cruz kicked off flag football season with the game ball on the very first game. He's one of three seventh graders on the A team and is having a great time. He's made lots of great catches, runs and even several interceptions. He's enjoyed playing on offense this year as well as defense. Cruz has otherwise adjusted well to school, is doing great, working hard and staying organized.

Coco Bean:

CoraPictureDay
We had to document her school picture look just in case the hair didn't make it until picture time!

Solo#1
For the first time ever, Cora will be doing a dance solo this year. She has been working hard at it already with her teacher Ms. Cindy!

LincolnDay1#1
Lincoln Team: Day 1

Cora made the Lincoln Team at her dance studio this year. Lincoln is an elite team which is a great honor for Cora but will also require a little bit more commitment and focus. Her team will compete five dances this year, rather than just two and she will practice more hours in the week. So far she LOVES it and is doing a great job balancing between dance and school.

SportsJerseyDay
Elementary had their first dress up day- jersey day!

Cora's teacher Mrs. Kinsch is also a cubs fan! :)

House:

In house news, we have a closing date of September 16th. Everything seems to be finishing up. Hardware was installed last week and the final coats of paint were going up this week. Once we close it will probably be another month or so before we are actually living in the house as it will take a little while for us to move all of our things, get our things out of storage, get the window treatments up and a few other projects. It will be nice to be able to move in slowly though- and what's one more month when we've waited 17? :)
