Fun in the Sun

Swimming in February.. does it get any better? Rowan and Joey didn't seem to think so!

First Tooth: 7 months, 1 day.

Rowan's very first tooth popped through last night. Well, the corner of it did. You can officially feel the edge above his gum. Rowan's first tooth is located on his bottom gums, center, left tooth (I believe these are called central incisors??). This post will not contain any pictures of The Tooth though because Rowan has his Daddy's stubborn side and refuses to open his mouth for pictures. He presses those little lips tightly together and flips his head from side to side when I try to look. Hopefully as the tooth emerges further I will be able to snap a shot. I will tell you its adorable though.

Interesting statistic:

Roger's first tooth was at 4 months, Alison's was at 9 months. Rowan is pretty much right in the middle which just furthers the thought that he's a good mix of Mom & Dad. :-)

7 months- Wow!

I can't believe Rowan is 7 months old. He is in the progress of getting his first tooth. We can see it under the gum but it hasn't broken through yet. He is also dealing with a runny nose/cough. Despite those circumstances, his cheery personality is still shining! He's such a trooper. He now weighs over 16 and a half pounds. We are adding a solid lunch meal to his diet now so he's on three meals a day now.

Random Pictures

Yesterday was Ash Wednesday and our family attended church last night. Our church celebrates the tradition of putting ash in the shape of a cross of the forehead. Simply stated, these ashes remind us that "we are dust and to dust we shall return." Through meditation on that statement we are reminded of our need for Jesus and the cleansing from the "ash" (sin) of our lives that only He can bring.
Rowan gives Cooper the sweetest smiles! I'm not sure Cooper is thrilled with Rowan's new found scooting abilities. It makes it tougher for Cooper to escape the fur pulls.

This picture cracked me up because as I was taking it my cell phone rang in the other room and both Cooper and Rowan turned to look in the direction of the ringing.

I know you've already endured a scooting video but he's getting faster!

Making a Mess

Rowan spots the organized bookshelf...Hmm.. I think I'll read this one.

Oh yeah, this one sounds good.

Wow, actually I think I want to read this one... or this one...

That was fun!

On the Move!

Yesterday Rowan started scooting around on his tummy. Here he is scooting around the playroom this morning.

Rowan Talks- Part III

Here is the last video in the Rowan Talks series. We've covered "mama" "baba" and now, the long awaited "dada." I won't bore you with "yaya" "gaga" and other vowel/consonant combinations he makes.... or maybe I will, we'll see. :-) Oh, and this video is shot at a strange angle because Rowan is going through his "mommy" phase and was holding tightly to my arm.

Valentine's Day

We celebrated Valentine's Day with Rowan a bit late due to being out of town. Rowan enjoyed opening his basket and getting some new toys.

Hold on a second, Rowan wants to type: f mdxc uijn

Okay, I'm not exactly sure what that means but I'm thinking Rowan is thanking all of you for the loving Valentines Day cards and messages!

Rowan Builds a Bear

Grammy and I took Rowan to Build a Bear today. Rowan had a surprisingly fun time picking out a bear, watching it get stuffed, and dressing it in Chicago Bears gear. Rowan named his bear "BaBa." He didn't have a lot of choices being that his vocabulary is fairly limited. :-) Thanks to Rowan's ear infection we enjoyed an extra few days in Illinois but are looking forward to heading home to see Daddy tomorrow.

Amanda's Shower

Check out this link for more pictures of the day!

**Thank you for a great job with the camera, Kristin!**
**Grandma, when I get home and have access to Photoshop, I can get rid of the red eye in the picture of you and Rowan.**

Hi Daddy!

Here I am eating some pizza crust.

Here I am playing with Aunt Lucky.

Here I am when I found out I had an ear infection.

Hi Daddy,

I miss you. I had fun at Aunt Amanda's Bridal Shower. I can't wait to see you and Cooper. I thought you might have missed my face, so here it is!

Love, Rowan

Family Room

Roger and I FINALLY bought new tables for our family room. Our old ones had a glass top which I was getting very sick of cleaning! We also purchased some 2x2 foam mats that fit together like a puzzle for Rowan to play on. They are soft and cushy so I can safely let him sit on the family room floor and play..... and they come apart easily to be put away. Of course, Cooper is never far away.

Please don't mind the one pillow without a pillow case. That one is in the wash because little Rowy threw up on it..... Ahh, the joys of motherhood.

Cooper's new favorite toy is a soccer ball that he found in our yard one morning. Each time he comes in from being outside he brings it to the back door. Every time he does this, I make him drop it before he can come in. He never gives up though. I think he's hoping one of these times I'll say "Okay, Coo, bring your disgusting, dirty soccer ball into the house." Sorry, Cooey, never gonna happen!

Finger Painting

I got ambitious this morning and decided to get out the WASHABLE finger paints and let Rowan go to town. I actually wanted to frame some of his work to go up in the playroom. We went out in the backyard and Rowan had lots of fun painting and getting dirty. The paint washed off of both us fairly easily.

Rowan in Action

Rowan has added a new string of sounds to his vocabulary. Roger hoped it would be "dada" next but Rowan has decided on "baba." He's also combined his two sounds saying "mababa."

This video shows that Cooper (for being 2 years old) is extremely tolerant of Rowan. Its somewhat difficult to see in the video but Rowan is grabbing and pulling on Cooper's hair/skin. "Kisses" are his way of handling the situation!

On this video Rowan is have one of his laughing fits. Pretty much anything you do from making a goofy face to saying his name will make him crack up. As you see at the end, Cooper is never far from the action!
