Based on just a few pictures, November looks like it was a quiet month. It was really quite the opposite! Both boys are still doing their weekly private hitting lessons and baseball practices. Coco has her two nights of dance. This month we added rec basketball practices for Cruz and Christmas parade practice at dance for Coco. Along with our weekly life group, school projects, volunteering at school, traveling for Roger, it's been a busy month. We have the entire week off for Thanksgiving and I am SO grateful for that!
Coco Bean:
I surprise the kids every so often and check them out of school for lunch! It was Coco's turn this month. She picked Chick Fit A and we had a sweet time eating and chatting before I dropped her back off at school.
Cora has had an interesting month. I think she has realized that there are legitimate scary things that can happen in this world and they just might happen to her. I remember going through something similar with the boys around age seven. She went through a spell for about a week or so at the beginning of the month where she was terrified that she was going to throw up (after her Costa Rica episode). She barely wanted to eat and she had talked herself into believing that eating would make her sick. Her friend at school swallowed her tooth during lunch (and the friend was quite dramatic about this) so it had Cora terrified that she was going to choke on her tooth. She's been very emotional and worried about her friends and brothers. She's also started talking again about how scary it was when Roger was sick. We've been praying a lot and reading about what God has to say about fear/worry in His Word. She's found that taking a deep breath and thinking about something happy helps a lot. She's such a complex little thing. SO tough, loud and confident on the outside but she has a really soft heart.
Cruz:
My little Cruz had a great month. Like I said, he started basketball which he's enjoying. His team is made up of all kids from his class at school. Cruz tried out to be a part of a small vocal ensemble for his Christmas program at school and he made it! It was a big step for him to try out for something like that. I've seen so much growth in Cruz these past few months. He is really figuring out who he is and gaining a lot of confidence to try new things. He is so social, bubbly and is the kid who wants to try everything. He also has such a sweet heart. Mrs. Baker had the class write prayers of praise as part of a writing assignment. She put them all together in a book and I absolutely loved reading Cruz's.
Cruz was Governor Bradford when his class led chapel last week.
Rowan:
Our big middle schooler is doing great too! I continue to be so impressed with Rowan and the way he manages his school work completely on his own. He is becoming so responsible. He is also growing up in other ways, like wanting to get up and shower every morning before school. I had the pleasure of accompanying his class on their big sixth grade field trip to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. The kids had a blast learning all about NASA, space travel and getting to see actual space craft. They also really enjoyed the rides and simulators. I loved the opportunity to spend time with some of the other sixth grade moms and of course, my sweet Row! Just a random fact, but we also learned at Rowan's sports physical that he has incredible vision. 20/13 and 20/15. We always new he was special. ;)
