19 Months (2/27)

Rowan Christian: 19 months

Since we became parents 19 months ago, Roger and I have become completely different people. Tonight we were discussing the toughest and best parts of being Rowan's parents SO FAR. Here are our thoughts:

Roger
Toughest: Denying Rowan anything and everything he wants, in other words, saying "no."
Best: Being proud to take him in public and "show him off" to the world.

Alison
Toughest: Allowing Rowan to learn and get frustrated when trying something new without stepping in and doing it for him.
Best: Nothing can beat when he says, "Mommy, giss (kiss)" and puckers those slobbering wet little lips.

Roger and I truly enjoy being with Rowan. We're very proud of the pleasant, sweet, funny, obedient little boy that he is and are amazed that God chose us to be his parents.

32 weeks

I had an ultrasound today. It was supposed to be my last one of this pregnancy but looks like we may get to sneak in another because Baby Boy was breech, meaning his bottom is set to come out first. Being only 32 weeks the doctor assured me that he would probably turn into the head down position by birth but I'm not too concerned about it. If I need a c-section, I need a c-section. :-) Other than that, everything looked good. He's measuring on track, weighs 3lbs 11oz, and the doctor estimates his birth weight will be around 7 lbs (Rowan was 7lbs 2 oz). Unfortunately, due to his positioning she was absolutely unable to get any ultrasound pictures of his little face so I guess a picture of Big Boy will have to do for tonight!!!

R & B

Could they be any cuter? R & B played fabulously together today... unless, of course, sharing cars was involved.

Rowan's New Bed?

Rowan has been falling asleep on the floor of his room by the doorway. He has napped this way too the last few days. We're not exactly sure what triggered it. Prior to Sunday night he loved his big boy bed. Maybe it was the fact that he threw up in his bed on Sunday night? (Don't worry, we did clean it). Maybe its the fact that he got some extra snuggles and cuddles in bed when he wasn't feeling well? Or maybe he's just expressing his displeasure at being left in a room all alone. Whatever it is, Rowan has decided that his floor is way more comfortable than his bed. Even though its killing me, I'm just going to let him sleep there and learn that perhaps, his comfy, stuffed animal filled bed, isn't so bad after all.

Rowan Live!

Rowan is currently obsessed with Daddy's car. He loves talking about it, riding in it, touching it, etc. He is absolutely thrilled that his toy Audi looks so much like his Daddy's.

Rowan asked to kiss the camera... isn't that cute? :-)

Baby Boy's Nursery

We're just about finished with our second little guy's nursery. A few more touches still need to be added. We decided to do a new nursery for this little guy. If he had turned out to be a girl, we would have totally redone the room and we decided that even though he will be our second boy, he is a completely different person and deserves a room all his own. Our nursery furniture is great because the dresser/changing table combo can be used as just a dresser and the crib can convert to a bed so our last child (probably this little guy) will get to use this furniture as he grows too!

View from the door.

The pillow is still in need of a pillowcase & a brown lampshade is on its way to replace the blue one.

Changing table with some bright artwork!

View of changing table plus laundry hamper.

The crib- eventually his name will hang above the crib.

His neatly organized closet (thanks Mom!)

My FAVORITE part of the room: the brown soft shag rug!

Coloring with Grammy

This child takes coloring VERY seriously. Rowan doesn't like to color alone and everyone coloring needs to have a clean sheet of paper to start with. Rowan likes to name the color crayons everyone is using. He doesn't always identify them correctly but he's definitely getting better!

Bye Bye Highchair...

Hello Booster Seat!

Rowan's New School

Ding, ding, ding. Good job Kristin! :-)

I was indeed filling out paperwork for Rowan to go to preschool. Cross of Christ, where I used to teach, is being renamed North Valley Christian Academy to appeal to a wider range of people especially those who may not belong to Cross of Christ Church.

Rowan will be going to the pre school 2 year old program there two days a week for a couple of hours. It will be so great for him to spend some time with other children his age and learn how to be part of a group.

Play Fort

We have a fun place in Anthem called the Play Fort. It has a couple big bouncy houses, slides, a climbing playground, toys, a ball pit, etc. We got a monthly membership and thought we'd take Daddy for a Sunday of fun. It was hard to capture good pictures with the two of them bouncing around but I tried my best! :-)

Jamba Juice

Cooper is 3

Yep, we're one of "those" families that celebrate their dog's birthday. A McDonald's hamburger and a new bone were all Cooper needed to celebrate his day.

Ummm...

I don't know WHY Rowan decided to color all over his face with a marker and I don't know WHY his mother wasn't watching him more carefully but I do know that upon seeing himself in the mirror Rowan exclaimed in horror, "I yellow!!!"

Well, Sweet Boy, you're actually green but a big mess none the less! I got a good chuckle out of his comment so decided to share this anyway despite the obvious lack of supervision. :-)

**the markers seen here are both washable and non toxic.

Rowan's Ramblings

I can't believe my baby is putting words together! Here is a list of some of my favorites:

- 'scuse me, mama
- no, no, Buggy (disciplining the dog)
- more ug/more giss (translates to more hugs/kiss, most often heard before bed)
- MY daddy (yes, Rowan, he's yours)
- winnow up (LOVES to have his window rolled up and down in the car)
- no, yeah
-do my 'pikes ("spikes" is what he calls getting his hair gelled)
-appuh doose mama's (mama's apple juice)
-yeah, okay

Here's a picture from a couple of weeks ago when Grammy & GeeGee came to visit. Rowan loved helping to pull GeeGee's suitcase! I will try to post more pictures from their visit soon. Our computer crashed and we lost a lot of pictures, etc. so I've been kind of busy trying to get back what I can and our new computer doesn't have a lot of photos on it yet.

Oh, and this proud Mama would like to share that Rowan has mastered the big boy bed. He gets up earlier than before but he sleeps wonderfully. Once he understood the rules, got a cool baseball mitt night light and had a cup of water on his nightstand, he was set. We're so proud of him that I don't even mind hearing "Mommy, I up!" coming from his room at 6:00 in the morning.
