Our Daddy

Our Daddy is a great one, that's for sure. The boys helped me make the morning extra special for him. It included cards, bacon and a fun scavenger hunt (or at least the boys and I thought it was fun :)). Later in the day we went shopping and our great daddy picked himself out a new golf club. Dinner and frozen yogurt ended our day.

Our kids have the perfect dad for them. Roger is an amazing buddy, hero and role model for our boys. Cora is definitely his princess and is treated with extra sweetness and gentleness. When the boys would cry in bed when they were babies, Roger would always say, "they're fine, they need to learn to sleep." If sweet Cora is fussing then her daddy is the first one in there ROCKING her to sleep. :) He also loves her all dressed up almost as much as I do. He's the first to comment if she doesn't have a hairbow in her hair. I know he loves all three of them so much and its fun to see their relationships growing.

Just wanted to share a picture... not much else to report right now. We're getting ready for our big Illinois trip coming up soon. I can't believe its that time of year again! :) Just wanted everyone to know that we're still alive and kickin'! 

Lovin' Summer!

We are having a really fun summer so far. We've been busy but its been a good kind of busy!

Last week we went to our first summer movie, which was so fun. The boys are both old enough to sit through the movie which makes it even more enjoyable. Sweet Cora stayed home and napped with her favorite baby-sitter. We got the boys signed up for the summer reading program at the library. This is Rowan's first year in the "independent readers" category. He's so proud and he's already read 10 books to earn his first prize. Cruz earns his stickers by being read to.

We've been doing at home summer school too. Rowan requested learning about money and Cruz needs some more practice with his letters. The boys have also been practicing their cutting and direction following skills.

I didn't realize that you couldn't actually see what he was writing when I took this video. Oops. :)

Both boys started swimming lessons on Monday. Between corralling Cora and cheering them on, these were all the pictures I managed to get. Rowan rocked his lesson as usual. His strokes are really good, he's jumping off the high dive, somersaulting in the water and diving for rings. Cruz is more timid so his lesson was a little stressful but I am so proud of him for trying things that he's nervous about. He's grown up so much in the past weeks and I know that he's going to do wonderfully with swimming.

This week both boys went to VBS from 9-12. I've enjoyed my time with Cora and some time alone while she naps. Both boys had SO much fun and came home full of the things they've learned. I'm always amazed at what Rowan and Cruz soak up. 

Coco is 8 months!

Cora somehow turned from baby to big girl overnight. She weighs almost 17 pounds which we found out at her latest doctor visit for an ear infection. She has three teeth. One on the bottom and two on the top. Her teeth are coming in in a strange order. Cora is starting to prefer table food over baby food and is willing to try most anything. Some of her favorite foods are bananas, yogurt, broccoli, graham cracker and macaroni and cheese. Miss Cora also started crawling this past weekend. She does a bit of an odd one legged crawl but she's definitely mobile. Cora's personality continues to become more apparent. She loves to be the center of attention, she loves to be entertained and she's very dramatic. 

Here's another video of her saying "uh oh." Its clearer than the other one. Poor little girl had an awful runny nose that turned into an ear infection.
