Last weekend Rowan had his first chess tournament of the year. We are so proud of him. He works so hard and has so much fun. He earned 3/4 points which put him in 24th place. There were 113 kids in his division so that was a very good finish for him. He was disappointed that he wasn't 20th place though since the first 20 kids got trophies. :)
In between matches he played a math game on the ipad with one of his classmates.
Good luck snuggles from Coco.
Coco had fun hanging out with Grammy and Grampy while Rowan was busy playing.
Last Saturday we used our gift certificates to the Arizona Sea Life Aquarium that the kids got for Christmas from their great aunt and uncle. We had so much fun. The kids, especially Cora, loved seeing all the fish. Cruz even touched the starfish which was a huge deal for him. Christmas has lasted all year long in our house thanks to our wonderful family.
Rowan chose a shark shirt because we were going to the aquarium so Cruz wanted a sea life shirt too. We couldn't find one in his closet so he settled on a duck shirt. After all, they live in water too. ;)
These goofballs were yelling aquarium while they waited for lunch. Sam's Club is one of our favorite cheap lunches. We can all eat for about $12. Can't beat that for a family of give to eat out.
The aquarium is really pretty and very well done. There were tons of eye catching exhibits.
Daddy let the boys choose a small gift at the gift shop. They were so excited.
On our way home we stopped at Butterfly Wonderland to see the butterflies.
Cora Grace had her first ballet class today. She was absolutely precious and so excited to be dressed up. She must have shown her brothers and daddy her ballet slippers about twenty times last night as we laid them out before bed. She was such a good listener in class. I was so impressed. She went right in, did what was asked of her and came back out so happy. The parents can watch on a tv screen from the waiting room which was super fun too.
Baby had to come too, of course. :)
Cruz is still wearing his eye patch. He has his two month check up one week from tomorrow. He hasn't been commenting on seeing double nor have I seen his squinting his eye shut so I'm praying his doctor will say the patch did its job and he can be done.
While he's wearing the patch we try to play games, do puzzles and use the ipad to make sure his eye is busy tracking and focusing.
Cruz loves puzzles and is actually quite number minded like his brother.
He loves playing Rowan's math flash card app and according to his teacher, counted over 100 during his assessment at school. So proud of him.
Okay, there's all the updates and pictures I've had sitting on my computer. Rowan is doing so well in school. He loves math and reading and despises handwriting. :)
