Rowan is TWELVE!

Rowan's birthday stretched out for quite some time beginning over a week ago in Morton with Grandma, Linda, Uncle Randy, Aunt Nicole and Emmett! He got to open some cash from Uncle Randy & Aunt Nicole and some march from a YouTube guy he likes plus a blanket that looks like a tortilla! So fun!

Rowan's birthday continued the next weekend. We celebrated Saturday and Sunday with Daddy as he had to leave for Florida on Monday. The wrapping paper on Rowan's gifts gave a clue to what was inside although he didn't pick up on that!

New Under Armor hat and shirt.

twelve#5
The kids are really into trivia right now so this sounded like a game that was right up their alley!

twelve#6
He was really surprised about his big gift.

Our responsible, big boy earned himself his very own phone. Rowan has shown us that he is dependable, honest and can make good choices even when others aren't. He has shown us that he has the maturity to keep track and take care of a phone. His phone doesn't have internet access or social media. I have an app on my phone called OurPact that basically can control his phone from mine but this is a step in independence for our sweet boy.

twelve#15
I found this cell phone contract on Pinterest and thought it summed up everything we expect of Rowan at this point.

twelve#11
Rowan's first phone call was to Grammy.

twelve#13
He texted lots of family members and several friends to share his new number. He was so excited. It was so cute!

twelve#16
Rowan chose Jason's Deli for lunch.

twelve#21
The boys went to look at cars after lunch. They visited all their favorite car lots, something they really enjoy doing together. Unfortunately, they weren't able to test drive anything due to Covid.

twelve#17
When they got home we celebrated with a delicious cookie cake!

On Sunday morning, we got dressed up and headed to House of Cards restaurant for their family brunch. This is a restaurant that Roger and I went to for my birthday. It's a neat experience of fancy food and magic shows!

twelve#23
No photography is allowed inside! The kids chose Steak and Eggs for breakfast and enjoyed the magician who came to our table. After breakfast, we were able to see a magic show in the theater inside the restaurant. It was such a fun morning!

Rowan's actual birthday was low-key but still a fun day! We started off with donuts for breakfast. 12 candles in 12 donuts! Rowan had a batting lesson, had his friend Britten over for the afternoon, practiced with Cruz's baseball team in the evening and had ice cream for dinner!

twelve#24
Row also got to FaceTime with G&G and was super excited about his new water bottle, money towards a  hoverboard and tootsie rolls!

twelve#24
Rowan enjoyed getting Grandpa's traditional birthday video on his very own phone this year! Thank you also Grandpa and Deona for the gift cards! They will be put to use very soon. ;)

twelve#25
Thank you for the card and check, Linda! It was so special to celebrate with you last weekend!

RowanBirthdayFinal
Rowan was so excited to have enough birthday money to order his hoverboard!!! Thanks everyone!

Rowan:

You are in such a fun stage. You are equal parts little boy and teenager. This is really a sweet age and I hope this year goes by slowly. Physically, you are getting so big. You are just a hair under five feet tall and about 90 lbs. You have started to sit in the front seat of the car and that's so fun for me. I love having you to run the music or even help me navigate. You are dependable and determined. You are still easily frustrated when something doesn't come easily to you. You are so sweet with little kids, especially Tye and Emmett. You really have a kind and nurturing heart. You are always concerned about your mama too. You love baseball and are a strong short stop and pitcher. You love Jesus and listen to the Holy Spirit. You are still as smart as ever and will be in honors classes in the fall. You are really growing into such a wonderful, kind kid. We couldn't be more thankful for the ways God is working in your life, Row. We love you so much more than we could ever tell you and are that proud of you too!

Stats: 59.5 inches and 83 lbs

July & Morton Road Trip

Misc. July:

CocoHaircut#1
Coco Bean got a MUCH needed three inches cut off her hair!

Coco also got to go to dance camp! She wore her mask, had her temperature taken and stayed in her socially distanced taped off square in the studio. I love that they are finding ways to make it safer for the kiddos to come back and what they enjoy.

Look at these little twins... both Roger and Cruz at age 10.

SOAR
We did SOAR Adventure Tower with some friends. The little girls stayed on the easy course while their older siblings went on the upper course.

WhiteHouseLetter#2
Back in the Spring, Cruz's class wrote letters to President Trump. Cruz was excited to receive an envelope back from the White House.

We made the trek to Morton the day after arriving home from South Dakota. The kids were great travelers again though. We stopped in Superman's hometown of Metropolis on the way.
