Trick or Treating

Roger shows Rowan how to hold his sword.

Rowan, the pirate is ready to go. He actually was in a horrible mood at first.

Rowan (15 mo), Brayden (16 mo), Joey (23 mo), Logan (3.5 mo)

Rowan loved choosing a piece of candy and putting it into his pumpkin.

He carried his pumpkin the whole way. It got pretty heavy after a while.

Daddy and Rowan relaxing after an exhausting hour of candy collecting.

Rowan with his stash. Well, the part of his stash that he, Roger or I hadn't consumed at that point. :-)

Playdate at the Park

My friends and I had our weekly play date at a park today. Rowan and Brayden enjoyed the playground and the swings and baby Logan was content to lay in his stroller and watch. This is the best picture I got of Rowan. He was much too busy playing to stop and smile for the camera. Rowan is imitating a lot more words these days and now says his friends names, Brady-uh & Logey. Its so sweet! I can't believe how grown up my little boy is getting.

A Chili Day

Today was downright cold. It got no higher than 64, according to my car thermometer. Rowan pulled out his winter hat to play outside tonight! He still had a lot of fun. To top it off, we had chili for dinner. Its hard to find a day when a hot dish like chili actually sounds good but tonight it definitely did. I even slipped some squash and carrots into Rowan's and he didn't even notice. :-)

Rowan: 15 Months!

Rowan had his 15 month check up today. He weighs 22 pounds 6 ounces and was 31.5 inches long. He's been growing steadily in the 20th percentile! Interesting fact: At 15 months, Roger weighed 22 pounds 11 ounces and Alison weighed 22 pounds 3 ounces so Rowan is pretty much on track with his parents! :-)

Rowan's big accomplishment this month is mastering a fork and spoon. He loves to eat and is doing very well eating on his own using utensils! What a big boy.

Rowan's vocabulary continues to increase. He likes to point out the sky & the moon each evening.

We've started work on his big boy room. More pictures of that to come....

Boo at the Zoo!

Today we went to an event called Boo at the Zoo with our friends the Schmidts. The kids got to wear their costumes (at least until it got too hot) and there were special Fall exibits and activities to see and do.
Rowan in his costume right before we left. Roger calls this his sissy pirate look since he's clinging to his soothie and has a pacifier in his mouth. We had to wake him up to leave so he wasn't too happy. We have some finishing touches to add to his costume but decided to save them for Halloween.
Rowan the Pirate & Brayden the Duck

Daddy and Rowan watching the giraffes munch of some pumpkin. The zoo gives some of the animals whole pumpkins to eat at this event. Its fun to watch them smash them, step on them, and eventually eat them.

Rowan and Brayden LOVED the ducks. Roger discovered the ducks will eat cheerios and the boys got a kick out of letting the ducks grab the food from their hands.

All the boys in the Little People Playland. Rowan kept trying to push poor Brayden off the cow.

They had a big area with pumpkins for the kids to play with. Rowan kept trying to pick them up. A minute after this picture was taken he dropped that one on the ground and exclaimed, "oh, no!"

By the end, the boys were tired and hot but I managed to capture this sweet moment between Rowan and Daddy. If you look carefully, you can see Rowan playing with Roger's ears. So sweet.

Rowan Says "GeeGee"

Anthem Autumnfest

Today we walked over to the Anthem Autumnfest which was going on in the park. It is a typical carnival. It has carnival rides, games, funnel cake, and some booths and foods set up by Anthem businesses. We had lots of fun exploring!
Rowan on his favorite: The Carousel

Rowan & Daddy looking back after the ride!

Rowan got to choose a rubber duck and won a prize.

Yum, enjoying his first funnel cake.

Rowan was unsure about getting his face painted.....

We chose the easiest, quickest thing to paint... Candy Corn!

Baby's Big Debut

Here is the first glimpse of our new little one in the making. This was from an ultrasound over a month ago so Baby has made much progress since then! I am currently exactly 14 weeks pregnant so I am happily in the 2nd trimester getting my energy back. If you ask Rowan where Baby is, he points at my stomach and will happily give my stomach "loves" and kisses. We also bought a doppler (the device the dr. uses to listen to baby's heartbeat) when I was pregnant with Rowan so we've been able to use it again this time and listen to Baby each night. Rowan will bring me the doppler and say baby. Then he's in charge of turning it on when I tell him. He puts it up to his ear as we listen for the heartbeat. Its very sweet.

As much as I'm enjoying seeing my baby Rowan turn into a toddler and a big brother, it also saddens me that he's not going to be our only baby anymore. It also saddens me that I'm going to have to give up time with him for this new little one. I think as fellow older childen both Rog & I sympathize with Rowan quite a bit. Isn't that strange that this new baby will be our first family member NOT to be an older child. I'm sure he/she will bring some goofiness to our very Type A household. :-)

Monday Night with Daddy

Rowan and his daddy, snuggled up on the couch, sucking down a chocolate milkshake. Nothing could be better.

What Are We Doing?

What's going on in these pictures? Any ideas? More to come later! :-)

Makin' Pizza

Two new posts in one night, can you believe it? I hardly can! I decided that doing "make your own pizzas" with Rowan would be a fun activity while Daddy was hard at work carving the pumpkin. Roger was skeptical at first but after he saw Rowan actually making his pizza, he was pretty impressed!

Rowan spooned the sauce on his pizza and spread it around. Eventually he began flinging the spoon so we moved on to cheese. He loved dumping the cheese on his pizza!

By the time we got to the toppings (pepperoni, ham, peas) he was pretty hungry so more started going in his mouth than on his pizza.

Daddy paused his intense carving to take a picture of us hard at work.

Rowan's masterpiece. He did this about 90% on his own. I think that's pretty good for a 14 month old. :-)

Yum! It tasted as good as it looked. Rowan ate 3/4 of it plus some extra peas on the side.

Pumpkin Carving

Rowan was much more interested in pumpkin carving this year. I'm not sure Roger viewed this as a positive. :-) Rowan loved using the spoon to scrape the pumpkin but wanted nothing to do with touching the "goop." Cooper supervised the carving.
Okay, Dad, how do we do this?

I've got ALL the spoons!

Dad, move your hand, I can't get a good scoop!

Into the bowl it goes.

Ewww! (for some reason I think he looks like a big kid in this picture.. maybe its the hair)

Cool mummy pumpkin, Dad!

The top comes off...

...and goes back on.

Roger's finished product. He decided to go with something a little different this year.

Rowan's News Flash

Rowan would like to share that he is going to be a big brother around April 23rd 2010. He would also like to let you all know that he's learned to spin in circles and walk backwards. He thinks those two things are even cooler than becoming a big brother. Oh, he'd also like to add that he now has more hair than when the picture was taken a month ago. Like his daddy, he's very sensitive about the 'bald' comments. :-)
Prayers are always appreciated!

Christmas in October

A very early Christmas gift....
Helping Daddy put it together. Notice that Rowan has a screwdriver as well. Oh, and don't be fooled into thinking Roger put this together. I actually did it, Roger just put in the last remaining screws. :-)
Trying out the climber.

This is fun!

Whee!!! Cooper, of course, is never far away.

Where'd Rowan go? What a fun new toy!
