Rowan's First Cubs Game...

and his National Television debut all in one night! We took Rowan to the Cubs v. Diamondbacks game last night all decked out in his Cubs gear. Judging by the number of text messages we received Rowan was officially on WGN and FSN. He was also on the Jumbotron at Chase Field. We had amazing front row seats right on top of the Visitors (Cubs) dugout. We went with one of the subcontractors Roger works with, his wife, and their 10 month old daughter. The game started at 6:40 AZ time. We stayed until about 9:30. Rowan did amazingly well being up past bedtime! It was so much fun.

Rowan did a lot of clapping during the game

Yay, Cubs! (He says "ayyy" when he claps)

Growing Up

On Monday I had the chance to watch two of Rowan's friends. The boys had a lot of fun and I snapped a few pictures of them together.

I thought this was a funny picture of Rowan. You can see his hair spiked on top of his head. His head is growing in faster on top than on the sides. :-)

Rowan just started walking with the aid of his push toy. He has a difficult time on the carpet because you have to push it harder. The baby you hear in the background is Brayden.

Grandpa & Deona Visit

Rowan had a fun extended weekend visiting with Grandpa and Deona. Rowan even had the pleasure of celebrating Grandpa's 50th birthday with him. Rowan enjoyed a lot of extra attention, some new foods, and lots of snuggles!

Rowan is amazed by the bubbles.

Rowan loves his wooden spoon but loves his new red Rubber Spatula even more!

Bored Mommy

Before you look at the pictures know two things:

1. Yes, Rowan is just wearing a t shirt and diaper. It was 90+ degrees today and we are trying not to turn on the air just yet.
2. Rowan's binkies usually stay in his crib now but since he's teething he got to bring one out for playtime (plus it matched his shirt beautifully!).

Yay, Rowan!

Here's a video of Rowan clapping. He's such a stinker with the camera these days. The second he sees it, he quits doing whatever he was doing so its getting more difficult to capture things on video.

This is How We...

...eat lil' crunchies in our high chair.

... entertain ourselves on a hot Arizona day.

...make mom smile with a silly face.

...help mom open the blinds each day.

...play!

Today I looked out the window and there were two ducks floating around in our pool. If they came for peace and quiet, they chose the wrong house. Cooper was obsessed with chasing them... and fell in the pool as a result of his crazed running. Unfortunately I failed to get him falling in on video. :-)

This is Rowan just doing his thing... Cooper has to make an appearance too, of course.

Gymboree Class

Rowan had a fun second class today. There were a few more babies there which was exciting. There were even a couple girls! Since everyone I know has little boys, Rowan hasn't been exposed to many girls before. He actually couldn't have cared less but one little girl kept following him around.... :-) His favorite things were crawling up the ramps and climbing the foam stairs!

Rowan's New Tricks

This trick isn't really new but he LOVES the dishwasher. Tonight while I was cooking dinner, he played happily with the dishwasher and Cooper rested with his head on it! It was a sweet picture to look at as I cooked.

Rowan is getting good at opening cabinets and pulling out objects. This is the tupperware cabinet so I don't mind if he gets into it. Notice the Cubs popcorn bowl!

For Easter Rowan got some picture cards in his Easter basket. They have pictures of objects and the name of that object on each one. He recognizes the dog and the cow. In this video I know the dog is the card closer to him but trust me, he will still pick out the dog even if its farther away. Roger said I should note that since it looks like I'm encouraging him to pick the dog since its closer to his hand. :-)

He is Risen!

Happy Easter everyone! We had a fun filled day. We went to church this morning and spent the afternoon with our good friends, the Geyers. Cheryl is the lady I taught with last year and one of Rowan's godmothers. Her husband Tom is principal at Cross of Christ. We had a wonderful time! Here are some pictures from our day... and a few from the other day.
These first two pictures are from Wednesday. If you look closely, you can see Rowan's face in the computer screen on this second picture.

The boys and their Easter baskets. Cooper had already torn into his!

Rowan Helps Daddy

We've had a busy week this week! I have more pictures to share but haven't had a chance to upload them yet. We had church Thursday night and tonight. Rowan was fairly well behaved but tonight's service was somber and silent- two things that Rowan is NOT. :-)
I signed Rowan up for a Gymboree class and today was his first session. For those of you who are unfamiliar, let me try to explain more about it. There are Gymboree centers in most cities that are specially set up for these fun parent/child classes. The room is basically like a big playground appropriate for little ones. There are ramps, things to climb on, balls, tunnels, and lots of sensory objects. The activities today centered around balls. We did lots of activities including rolling balls, catching, riding on balls, crawling to find balls, bubbles, parachute, songs, etc. Anyway, it was a lot of fun and gave Rowan the chance to interact with some other babies his age (his class is for 6-10 month olds)! I did not take any pictures today but will try to do so at his next class.
Rowan is still working on growing his 3 teeth. Each tooth is at a different stage in the growing process so it looks like he has small stairs in his mouth. :-) Rowan had a slight fever tonight in one ear. He seemed fine otherwise. I'm hoping it has to do with teething and nothing more. Of course, he would get sick on a weekend when his pediatrician's office is closed!
Well, that's enough rambling. I need to go rest up for our Easter Bunny visit and Egg Coloring fun we have planned for tomorrow.... if Rowey's up to it, that is! I will post more pics then.

Go Cubs Go!

Rowan is all geared up to cheer on the Cubs today!
Rowan's 2nd Baseball Season
Rowan's 1st Baseball Season (1.5 months)

This is just a cute picture. The key to getting Rowan to crawl on all fours instead of his belly is to put him on an uncomfortable surface. Haha. :-)

Sunday Musings

-I love to get Rowan all dressed up for church.

-Rowan has taken 1.5 hour naps the past few days- a nice break from 35 minutes!

-I'm frustrated with Rowan's head being so bruised and scratched. I am right next to him all the time but he still manages bruises. Roger says it makes him look like a real boy. I think it makes him look like he has negligent parents. :-) Plus, his cheeks and chin are red from the drool which is not stopping! Perhaps tooth #4 is on the way?

-One of Rowan's teeth is coming in crooked. Those of you who know me well know that this bothers me greatly. Supposedly it will straighten itself out but I just want to adjust it myself. (Don't worry, I won't)

-Roger and I had date night last night but we were home by 9.... we both wanted PJ's and bed. We're getting old.

-Life is good. God is great. Hope your week is too!

This One's For....

....all of Rowan's photo starved fans! :-)
This is pretty much his typical stance and typical adorable face.

Wondering what Cooper's doing out there.

Rowan wants to share his binky with Cooper.

Can you tell he's pulling himself up? Check on the scratches and bruises on his poor little face!

See his little teeth?? He now has 3. All on the bottom!

We love you and hope and pray that you have a blessed Holy week coming up!
